About Me
Hi everyone! My name is Julia Dommel. I am from Beacon Falls, CT, and am a part of the class of 2029 at Dean College. I am 19 years old, I shoot with a Canon R8, and this is my third year as a freelance photographer.
I specialize in shooting baseball, softball, basketball, hockey, and media days. I am primarily a photographer, although I have great experience creating videos and graphics. I am still new to photography, and I have so much more to shoot.
Why I Started
When I was in high school, I was granted the opportunity to shoot for our school’s media class. I’ve never been great at expressing myself to other people. But photography somehow made it easier. Not only that, but it was a gateway for me to reach my community.
I worked with high schools in my area, families, businesses, seniors, recreational teams, minor league, collegiate, and professional teams through my love for photography.
What I've Done
So far in my career, I’ve reached a few high points that I would like to share. I have shot for the Hartford Yard Goats (CT’s minor league baseball team), Hartford Athletic (CT’s USL soccer team), Bridgeport Islanders (one of CT’s ASL hockey teams), GameTime CT (a Hearst Media publication featuring all high school sports in CT), Quinnipiac Men's Hockey, Fairfield University Men's Volleyball, the Women’s Field Hockey D3 tournament at Tufts University, Dean College Athletics, and the D3 Men’s Volleyball National Championship at Springfield College.
I am also an intern for the Future’s League located in New England. I’ve been blown away by what a simple email can do. Working with professionals has been amazing, as it’s allowed me to get a taste of what it is like shooting pro sports.
